Therapeutic style & focus

I have a keen interest to work with adolescents and adults to navigate psychological issues and life adversities to build a rich, full and meaningful life. I believe that everyone needs help at some point in their life, and I find the process of journeying with each individual to psychological wellness to be inspiring and humbling.

I am a strong believer of seeing every client as an individual, beyond any diagnosis or label. I work flexibly to adapt to each individual’s needs while being guided by my values of reflectiveness, openness and compassion. By reflecting on my practice, this helps me to regularly review if my practices are effective for a particular individual and to continually learn and update my skillset. Openness allows me to remain grounded and non-judgmental while listening with empathy and providing compassion.

It has always piqued my curiosity about what shapes an individual into who they are and what influences their actions. I am interested to understand why individuals may act in certain ways or act differently in the  same situations. I am keen to unravel the puzzle behind one’s actions and to help bring about understanding to foster change.

As a mother to a young child, I am even more deeply aware of how our childhood may shape us. But, it need not define us. While we cannot change the past or control others or life in general, we can learn to act mindfully and break out of unhelpful behavioral patterns. The things we experienced are not a reflection of our value or worth. I hope to understand and break generational patterns of parenting so as to change unhelpful behavioral patterns and improve coping with life struggles.

It brings me deep satisfaction and joy to witness individuals growing and changing to live aligned with who they want to be. This process ignites my own learning and self-discovery, as I am touched by the resilience and tenacity in individuals.
